Fit guide
How to measure
A few minutes with a soft tape measure lets Matchbook predict your size on every piece — and warn you when something is likely to pull, gape, or run long — before you buy. Everything below is optional; add what you like.
Match each colored arrow to its step.
- Shoulder
Across your upper back, from the bony tip of one shoulder (where a sleeve seam would sit) straight across to the other.
- Bust / chest
Around the fullest part of your chest, keeping the tape level and parallel to the floor. Don't pull it tight — it should sit snug but not compress.
- Underbust
Snug around your rib cage, directly under the bust. Paired with the bust number this tells us cup volume, so we can warn you when a button-front is likely to gap.
- Waist
Around the narrowest part of your torso, usually just above the belly button. Bend gently to one side — the crease that forms is your natural waist.
- Hip
Around the fullest part of your hips and seat, feet together and tape level all the way around.
- Inseam
From the top of your inner thigh straight down to your ankle bone. The easiest way: measure the inner seam of a pair of pants that already fit you well.
- Height
Stand straight against a wall with your heels down, and measure from the top of your head to the floor.
Arms, shoes & accessories
These size sleeves, shoes, and jewelry. All optional — add them and the relevant matches gain a fit note too.
Around the fullest part of your upper arm, with the arm relaxed at your side. This is what tells us if a fitted sleeve will be snug.
From the tip of your shoulder, down a slightly bent arm, to your wrist bone — so we can flag sleeves that run long or short.
Stand on a sheet of paper, mark your heel and longest toe, and measure between the marks. Do both feet and use the longer one.
Wrap a paper strip around the base of your finger, mark where it overlaps, and match the length to a ring-size chart — or measure the inner diameter of a ring you already wear.
Around the base of your neck where a necklace would rest, leaving one finger of room. This tells us where a given chain length will sit on you.
A few tips for accuracy
- ·Use a soft cloth or plastic tape. No tape? A piece of string, then hold it against a ruler.
- ·Measure over light clothing or bare skin — not over a sweater or a jacket.
- ·Keep the tape level and snug, never tight. Breathe normally and stand relaxed.
- ·A friend helps for the back-shoulder and height measurements, but every one of these can be done solo.
- ·Round to the nearest half inch. Close is plenty — we build in tolerances.
Your measurements are private. They’re saved in your browser (and to your account only if you sign in), used to size and flag fit on your matches, and never shown to anyone or sold. Style Scan never guesses them — you’re always the one who enters them.
